Another trip, another sunset

Sometimes when I feel at a standstill – I turn to my travel stories and photographs. It’s nostalgic, but also inspiring. Reminds me of how much I’ve seen and also how much more is left to see. Takes me back to times I felt curious, in movement, open to surprises, traveling to new and old places. Travel is still a privilege in our times and one of the reasons I enjoyed each journey.

Even though some places can’t truly be captured in photographs, the soft light of a sunset after walks in the city or along the beach comes close. And some sunsets stayed with me thanks to the moment they framed and the layer added.

Different languages of different seasons at sunset

A corner of a street in Lisbon waiting in line for a Belem pastel de nata. Feeling at ease in the golden sunset light in Florence. Admiring people reading a paper in a classic Vienna coffee house. Listening to opera open air in a warm evening at Arena di Verona. The sand and the murmur of the Black Sea in Constanta. To the Acropolis site in Athens. A festival in Bucharest. At Tivoli in Copenhagen. Gaudí tour followed by a concert in Barcelona.

Subset in the plane, when the flight is just the beginning of the journey. Hiking in June in an Italian National Park among olive and lemon groves. My Erasmus in Odense. Running at Brussels marathon until Grand Place. A Christmas market in Strasbourg on my first work trip at only 24 years old. One year later, a reunion in Rome that I remember so well. Swimming in the turquoise waters of Nice, on the Côte d’Azur. Showing Paris to my family. The skyline over Berlin—grateful, home, wondering what comes next.
