You look like a movie. You sound like a song.
Every summer does not look the same. This one had also a memorable concert in Bavaria, at the arena at Messe München, a custom-built stadium with around 75,000-seat for the German residency of Adele.
In a warm August summer night – Adele in her Munich residency, the largest screen used for a stage show and best acoustics for such an iconic voice. The setlist for the night had around 20 of her well-known songs, starting with “Hello” and ending with actual fireworks and “Rolling in the Deep”, including in between favorites “Water Under the Bridge”, “Rumour Has It” or “Skyfall” and “Someone Like You”. The ending had also paper confetti from made to look like old Polaroids. More like goodbye from the other side.
Before going on a music break, the British singer stopped in Europe for 5 weekends / 10 nights with amazing shows in August. I am glad it was in Munich, Germany’s 3rd largest city. This time I traveled to Munich just for the concert, and saw a different part of the city where Messe is located. Besides the acoustics, the pop-up arena was smartly designed for a seamless experience for all visitors at arrival and at the end of the concert.
Plus, outside the arena was created a special themed hospitality area called “Adele world”, with a London inspired pub, a “I drink wine” bar, a typical Bavarian beer garden, and included even a weekly newspaper that become a souvenir.
Adele in Munich was one of a kind experience. Adele is pure talent and hard working artist in the same time. It was a special meaning of this concert attended in beautiful Munich on a sad anniversary. To sum it all up, it had a warm atmosphere, open air venue, a great live performer, with a mix of charisma and British humor. A real revelation. From all points of view. Made me wonder why I don’t visit this beautiful part of Germany more often, like I used to.
So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans. However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea – a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Right after the Euros? Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone! And some of my favourite artists playing shows too? Why…YES!! I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! (..)
